William Coon

Private William Coon, although having served in a Pennsylvania unit, was born in Baltimore on July 16, 1835. Coon enlisted early in the war as a Private in Company F of the 87th Pennsylvania Infantry on June 1, 1861. Serving for a little over a year, he was discharged on August 1,1862. Following the war, Coon married Julia Jane Yingling Coon in 1868. Living in Westminster, Coon worked variously as a paper hanger, a farmer, and a capitalist. Coon died at his home at 66 Liberty Street on July 31, 1900.
