James Troyer dies in Texas camp

Word was received by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Groft, Westminster, Route 4, near Leister's Church, Thursday morning informing them of the death at Camp Barkley, Texas, of their nephew, Pvt. James Troyer, aged 19 years. The young man had been brought up by his uncle and aunt and was making his home with them when he entered the service last spring. He was in training in the Medical Corps and had just returned to camp five days ago after spending a furlough with Mr. and Mrs. Groft. He attended Westminster High school two years. Mr. and Mrs. Groft received a telegram Tuesday that their nephew had been overcome by the heat and another telegram Wednesday informed them that his condition was serious. Times 7/30/43
