Memorial Page of Dennis Frizzell
Corporal Dennis Frizzell was born March 4, 1844, and when he enlisted in the Union Army on September 18, 1861 at Frederick, Maryland, he listed his occupation as a leatherman, indicating that he probably worked at a tannery. He served in Company E of the 13th Maryland Infantry Regiment. Frizzell spent much of 1862 AWOL (possibly as a prisoner of war). At the end of his three-year commitment, he was mustered out on February, 1864 for re-enlistment. Promoted to Corporal on March 1, 1865, he was discharged on May 29, 1865 at Baltimore, Maryland at war’s end. After the war he settled in Westminster and married Catherine Arbaugh on September 7, 1869. During the years after the war, he served as a commander of the Burns Post No. 13 of the Grand Army of the Republic and died on May 20, 1899.
